This year abcreads will be participating in the Cozy Mystery Challenge! You can read the guidelines below. We hope to read 10-12 cozy mysteries (Super Sleuth level) from January 1, 2012 – December 31, 2012. We'll keep a running tally of our titles here on this page!
- Chocolate Covered Murder by Leslie Meier - This is the 18th mystery featuring reporter Lucy Stone, set in Maine. Very enjoyable read with entertaining characters! See more on the author's website.
- Triple Shot by Sandra Balzo - This is the 7th Maggy Thorsen mystery. It's a humorous story that involves a live, on-air reveal in the style of Geraldo. Murder most fun! Read more about Maggy on the author's website.
- Behind the Seams by Betty Hechtman
A Crochet Mystery series book six featuring Molly and her fellow members of the Tarzana Hookers crocheting club. When the niece of one of the members is accused of poisoning a producer at the studio where she works, Molly must work to clear her name! This is a light and enjoyable read which includes an explanation of "Impatient Crochet", several crochet patterns, and recipes featured in the story. Make sure to check out Betty Hechtman's website (also featuring crochet patterns)! - Shear Murder by Nancy J. Cohen is the tenth in the Bad Hair Day Mystery series. We find hairstylist Marla Shore preparing for her wedding. Being busy with her hair salon and wedding plans don't prevent Marla from being a bridesmaid in a friends wedding. When the sister of the bride is murdered Marla adds looking for a killer to her to do list. This is a fast-paced cozy with humor, romance and family drama.
2012 Cozy Mystery Challenge Guidelines
~ The Challenge will begin on January 1 and run through December 31 of 2012. (Books should be read during this time period)
~ There will be four levels of participation. Each participant MUST choose a level, if they read more that's great... just don't go below the level you choose or I can't count it for the grand prize.
Level 1 Snooper: 1 to 3 Cozy Mysteries
Level 2 Gumshoe: 4 to 6 Cozy Mysteries
Level 3 Private-Eye: 7 to 9 Cozy Mysteries
Level 4 Super Sleuth: 10 to 12 Cozy Mysteries
