10 in '10 Challenge Book Review:
Memories Can Be Murder by Connie Shelton (Charlie Parker series #5)

Charlie Parker unexpectedly learns her parents' death was under suspicious circumstances, and ferrets out the truth, while at the same time merging households with her significant other.

A delightful quick read. As an Albuquerque resident, I enjoy the references to familiar city locations. Charlie Parker is an engaging protagonist with believable emotions and relationships, who gets into dangerous situations due to her tenacity, and has the spunk to fight her way out. I like the layout of the story in short, concise chapters. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

10 in '10 Challenge Book Review:
The Great Taos Bank Robbery by Tony Hillerman
Tony's great love for New Mexico flows off the pages of this short story collection. Only someone who loved Albuquerque could be inspired to write a short story about catching a glimpse of Mt. Taylor from a freeway overpass. There is no doubt the stories were written by a master journalist: his sentences are a pleasure to read and well-structured to efficiently convey information. Fans of NM and the Southwest will be entertained and educated by tales of long-ago and contemporary events that illustrate this unique and quirky corner of the world.
